The Lemons Ranch is located approximately 21 miles northeast of Prescott. Prescott is 100 miles northwest of Phoenix and 90 miles southwest of Flagstaff.

Description
The ranch is located on the eastern end of Lonesome Valley (see above picture), in the strongest turf grass country in the area. The ranch has eight (8) pastures that are used in a deferred rest rotation system. There are six (6) parcels of deeded land, ranging in size from 20.66 acres to 629.48 acres in size.

Improvements
Owners Residence: Approximately 452 square feet modular home set on a concrete pad having one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, and living room.

Ranch Manager's Residence: Approximately 424 square feet modular home set on a concrete pad, having one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, and living room.

Climate
In summer, the daytime temperature rarely exceeds 85 degrees; and in winter's sun-filled days it averages about 50 degrees.

Precipitation
The area has a semi-arid climate with the heaviest amounts of precipitation falling in July and August. According to the US Weather Bureau records at the Prescott Airport, the annual precipitation is 19"/year. The average total snow, sleet and hail is 21"/year.

Livestock water is provided as follows:

  • 8 wells: 7 windmills, plus 1 air wind pump; all equipped with submersible pumps except of the air pump.

Ranch operations
The ranch is very easy to operate. The topography is flat to rolling making it easy to work livestock.

Vegetation
The rangeland on the Lemons Ranch has a good variety of perennial grasses. there are several different varieties of grama grasses including sideoats grama, black grama, blue grama, and hairy grama.
