Perennial, warm, native, good grazing for wildlife and livestock. 1-2' tall, with weak, crooked, slender, wooly. stems which often take root at the swollen fuzzy joints. The internodes are usually green during winter. The inflorescence has 3-8 narrow spikes. Grows on gravelly uplands. A good source of vitamin A during winter. Decreases with heavy grazing.
